OUR IMPACT

Our relentless commitment to sustainability is non-negotiable which is why each step of the building process is carefully considered to reduce environmental impact.

Sympathetic design

Homes are designed to enhance the natural environment taking inspiration from local materials, the topography of the surrounding region, or special architectural and aesthetic qualities of the area. We aim to make as little impact on the local environment as possible.

Meaningful materials

We work with our trusted suppliers to substitute materials for more environmentally friendly or energy-efficient alternatives. These materials are loyal to their sustainable integrity but without compromising on style, durability or quality.

Likeminded partners

We consciously work with suppliers and partners who share our commitment to sustainable development in a bid to raise the bar for environmentally friendly design and build.

On-site responsibility

We operate a growing fleet of electric vehicles and recycle up to 96% of all on-site waste in a bid to reduce our carbon footprint.

SUSTAINABLE LIVING

We integrate energy-efficient technologies to ensure that the environmental footprint of our homes is as marginal as possible. As a result, we have achieved A-rated EPC status in 88% of homes and we are working to ensure that all Devlin homes meet this standard from 2023 onwards.

Sustainability is incorporated into all homes, by:

  • Installing air source heat pumps – a low carbon heating source which can reduce energy bills

  • Fitting solar PV panels as standard across all our homes, converting energy from the sun into electricity to power the home. This energy can be used to charge an electric vehicle, stored in batteries or sold back to the National Grid as an income source

  • Installing electric car charging points to promote the move away from fossil fuels

  • Using high levels of insulation in the floors, walls and ceilings to reduce heat loss and improve energy efficiency

  • Striving for all our homes to become fully A-rated, making a Devlin Developments home one of the most energy-efficient and environmentally conscious on the market

RESPECTING NATURE

In our pursuit of a greener future, we go the extra mile to support local wildlife.

We install bee bricks throughout our properties, not just to provide shelter, but to allow bees to thrive and contribute towards the pollination process, promoting the growth of local plant life.

We understand the importance of bats in maintaining a balanced ecosystem, and we install bat boxes in strategic locations. We're currently in the process of working with local ecologists to construct a purpose-built bat loft in one of our properties. This will provide a safe roosting spot, ensuring their continued presence.

We plan to incorporate swift bricks into our homes going forward, providing them with safe and secure nesting spaces. It will also create a unique opportunity for residents to witness these graceful birds in action.

We've even built a hedgehog home in the garden design of one of our properties - a small yet significant step towards maintaining the delicate balance of our ecosystem.

ENVIRONMENTALLY CONSCIOUS

As responsible home builders, we are committed to doing our part in preserving the local environment.

Last year alone we planted over 550 meters of hedging, 65 trees, and over 500 plants.

By doing so, we not only enhance the beauty of our homes but we are also enriching the local landscape and helping the fight against climate change.

We believe that every small action counts, and through our efforts, we are building homes that not only provide comfort and luxury but also prioritise the well-being of our planet.

"We don't inherit the earth, we borrow it from our children."
